Sexiest Stars of 2020... So Far
20. BUBBA WALLACE - Darrell Wallace Jr. aka "Bubba" is the 26-year-old, NASCAR driver from Mobile, Alabama. He started racing ten years ago when he was still a teenager. He currently drives the No. 43 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE. This is pure coincidence, but along with his surname, though no relation, my first car was a Chevy Camaro. I'm not a fan of NASCAR, but I became enamored with Bubba in 2018 when he became the highest-finishing, African-American driver in the Motorsport after competing at the Daytona 500 and the video of his press conference went viral, which was of him breaking down. Normally, I don't include athletes on this list, only actors and actresses, but Bubba did lend his voice in Pixar's Cars 3 (2017) and he was the star of Behind the Wall: Bubba Wallace (2018), a web series on Facebook Watch, which followed him, leading up to the Daytona 500.
However the reason he's on this list is due to his stance this year against NASCAR allowing the Confederate flag to be flown at its games. Bubba showed incredible solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement in the wake of George Floyd's death. He had the words "Black Lives Matter" printed on his car for the June 10th race at the Martinsville Speedway in Virginia. On June 21, it was reported that a noose was found in Bubba's garage at the Talladega Super-Speedway in his home-state of Alabama. He then had another video go viral when his car was pushed on Talladega by his fellow drivers in support of him. He's a beautiful, amazing and strong, young guy, but if you want to know how sexy he is, you can check out his web series or this comedic video that he did with Kevin Hart in which he's shirtless for pretty much the whole thing. In 2017, Flaunt magazine took some great photos of him as well. I simply wish him all the success.
19. RUPAUL CHARLES - The 59-year-old is probably the greatest drag queen who has ever lived. He's been a cultural icon ever since the 90's. Not only is he a model and actor, but he's also a musician, having released over a dozen albums. What helped him to become an icon was the fact that he had a hit song in 1993 called "Supermodel (You Better Work)." What really catapulted him into mainstream success is his TV series RuPaul's Drag Race (2009), which has now run for 12 seasons and won him six, Emmy Awards, including four consecutive wins as Outstanding Host for a Reality or Competition Program. This year, he created and starred in Netflix's AJ and the Queen and was the guest host for Saturday Night Live back in February.
18. JOSH SEGARRA - He's a theater actor who quickly became a Broadway star, having a featured role in Lysistrata Jones (2011) and having a leading role in On Your Feet! (2015) in which he played Emilio Estefan, the Cuban musician and Grammy-winner who's husband to Gloria Estefan. Segarra is himself Puerto Rican and he's been making more of a mark on television. He started out in the PBS reboot of The Electric Company, which is now streaming on HBO Max, and featured fellow Puerto Rican, Lin-Manuel Miranda. He first set the Internet afire in 2014 when he had a nude scene in the third episode of USA's Sirens now on Hulu. He's done a lot of TV since then, but what gets him on this list is Netflix's AJ and the Queen in which he played a very sexy bad boy.
17. BRIAN MICHAEL SMITH - The 37-year-old has an incredible life story. He was assigned female at birth, but that didn't stop him from becoming a football star on the high school boys' team and a track-and-field star on the girls' team. He started acting in TV only five years ago. His first major role was in 2017 on Ava DuVernay's Queen Sugar, a cable television show that had him playing his own identity, that of a Black, transgender man. That would open him up to similar roles, including on Showtime's The L Word: Generation Q (2019) and on FOX's 911: Lone Star, a role that marks the first time a Black trans-man as a series regular on a network program.
16. ALEXANDER LUDWIG - The Canadian started acting as a child. His first major role was as a teenager in The Seeker: The Dark is Rising (2007). He got a bit of a boost as part of the ensemble of The Hunger Games (2012). His next major role was playing a high school football player in When the Game Stands Tall (2014). For the past few years, the blonde beefcake has starred in the series Vikings on the History Channel. Currently, he's in the #1 film of 2020, that of Bad Boys for Life. He did a photo shoot for DA Man magazine last year in preview of Bad Boys for Life, but his spread for Bello magazine was pretty hot too.
15. MASON GOODING - The 23-year-old is the son of Oscar-winner Cuba Gooding Jr., but I only became aware of his presence last year as the object of affection in Booksmart (2019). He got a sexy, cool and funny dance number in that film. This year, he further established himself by appearing in three TV shows: Freeform's Everything's Gonna Be Okay, CBS' Star Trek: Picard and Hulu's Love, Victor. It's uncanny how much he looks and sounds like his father.
14. JUSTICE SMITH - The 24-year-old made the Forbes 30 Under 30 List, simply for being the lead in Baz Luhrman's The Get Down on Netflix. His career was immediately catapulted, as he earned a featured role in the blockbuster Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018). He then landed the lead in Pokémon Detective Pikachu (2019), a smaller blockbuster but still a hit movie. What got him on this list is his charming and revealing performance in All the Bright Places. What's intersting is that Smith came out as queer on Instagram in the wake of the Black Lives Matter and George Floyd protests in his effort to support the queer and trans lives also in danger. On an aside, he's currently dating Nicholas L. Ashe, featured in the Broadway show Choir Boy and Ava DuVernay's Queen Sugar.
13. JULIA GARNER - She's been acting for a decade now. She even appeared in a couple of episodes of The Get Down. She even got to make-out with Justice Smith in one episode. Most probably took note of her in FX's The Americans. However, her best role to date is her character of Ruth Langmore in Netflix's Ozark. That's evermore the case given that last year she won Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series at the Primetime Emmy Awards. This year, she gave a pretty incredible performance in the indie film, The Assistant.
12. LANA CONDOR - The Vietnamese actress is only 23 but so far has had an interesting life. After being born, she was left at an orphanage where three months later, she was adopted by a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist in Chicago. She grew up on an island in Washington state and New York City. She studied ballet, even studying with the Alvin Ailey Dance Theater. She went to various prestigious schools to study acting. Her debut role was X-Men: Apocalypse (2016). Her breakout role was two years later in Netflix's To All the Boys I've Loved Before (2018), a romantic comedy that became a smash hit online. She was nominated the following year for 2 Teen Choice Awards and 1 MTV Movie & TV Award, that of Best Kiss, which she did win. She continued to be beautiful and lovely this year in the sequel, To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You (2020).
11. JIN HA - The Korean actor was a graduate of NYU as recently as 2016. He got cast in the ensemble of the Chicago production of Hamilton (2016). He was cast as Song Liling in the Broadway revival of M. Butterfly (2017). He proved how beautiful he could be when he was in makeup and costume. He then landed a part in NBC's Jesus Christ Superstar: Live in Concert (2018), which itself was nominated for several Emmy Awards and resulted in Ha getting a Grammy nomination. This year really put him on my radar after he proved how sexy he could be in two TV series. He played the sexy love interest in FX's Devs, as well as the sexy love interest in HBO Max's Love Life, opposite Anna Kendrick.
10. JAMEELA JAMIL - The half-Indian and half-Pakistani actress from London has overcome a lot. She had hearing troubles when she was born. She had an eating disorder. She was struck by a car at 17. She thought she might not walk again but she rose up to become a successful model, appearing in magazines like Vogue. She became a TV presenter before landing her iconic role of Tahani in NBC's The Good Place, which had its finale this year. She did an online discussion where she talked about working on that series, which I thought was interesting. She's currently a judge on HBO Max's Legendary.
9. ISSA RAE - She started her web series The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl in 2011. She produced several web series before getting her own show on HBO, that of Insecure (2016). If you watched that series, her sex scenes can be pretty intense. She doesn't hold back and lets her beauty and body shine. She had a starring role in her first Hollywood film last year with Little (2019), which was a more kid-friendly film. This year though, she really proved how much of a movie star she can be with being the lead in two features. Both of which have strong romantic elements. Her most recent film The Lovebirds was more charming and silly. Her film The Photograph came out around Valentine's Day and had the strongest romance in it.
8. LAKEITH STANFIELD - The 28-year-old was Issa Rae's romantic partner in The Photograph. He got on my radar in the film Short Term 12 (2013). He had notable roles in films like Selma (2014) and Straight Outta Compton (2015). He also was pretty outstanding in FX's Atlanta, opposite Donald Glover. He really exploded onto the scene with his featured role in the Oscar-winning Get Out (2017). He was always cute with it, but I didn't really see his sex appeal until the trippy, Sorry to Bother You (2018).
7. HAAZ SLEIMAN - The Lebanese actor first caught my attention during his role in The Visitor (2007). He popped up in Nurse Jackie, which he did in 2009. He stole my heart though in Those People (2016), which was probably his hottest role. He's done various television. He's almost unrecognizable in Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan (2018). This year though, he's noted for his role in the series Little America on Apple TV+, as well as being the lead in the romantic comedy called Breaking Fast, which focuses on a gay Muslim. He will have a small role in The Eternals (2021), which will be the first Marvel Studios film to have a gay male kiss of which Sleiman will participate.
6. JOSH O'CONNOR - The 30-year-old English actor was steadily working for the better part of a decade before he really rocketed due to his incredible performance in God's Own Country (2017) for which he was nominated for the BAFTA Award for Rising Star. He followed that with taking on the role of Prince Charles in Netflix's The Crown and was probably the best thing about the season in which he appears. This year, he turns up the charm and his comedic side with his role in the remake, Emma (2020).
5. BROCK YURICH - The 31-year-old from Ohio is a beefy bodybuilder. He's been in a few projects of note, but the role that has put him on the map is in Tyler Perry's The Haves and the Have Nots. This year, he had his first shirtless scene and didn't disappoint. Of course, Yurich's Instagram is filled with pics of his muscular form. He was Mr. January in Mike Ruiz's Bullies and Biceps 2020 calendar. Not much to say than he's hot! However, here's a patriotic shot for the 4th of July.
4. TIKA SUMPTER - The New York actress is also on Tyler Perry's The Haves and the Have Nots. I've been following her career, going back to 2006 when she first appeared on the soap opera One Life to Live. She was cast in the wildly successful comedy Ride Along (2014). She jumped into a variety of roles, including as the future First Lady, Michelle Obama in Southside With You (2016). She's having a phenomenal year 2020. Not only does she have the successful spin-off seires Mixed-ish but she also starred in the surprising blockbuster, Sonic the Hedgehog, which is currently the #2 movie of the year, having grossed over a third of a billion in the box office.
3. NICHOLAS HOULT - The 30-year-old has been acting since he was a child at age 6 or 7. He was the boy in About a Boy (2002). He joined the X-Men franchise in 2011. His role in Mad Max: Fury Road (2015) has been very notable for growing fans. He had a sexy role in the prestige film A Single Man (2009), but his path away from blockbusters seemed to be cemented with his role in the Oscar-winning The Favourite (2018). Now that his role in the X-Men franchise is over, it'll be a wonder if he ever does a blockbuster again. He was in three projects this year. The Banker on Apple TV+ came and went, but his other projects, the film True History of the Kelly Gang and Hulu's The Great, both had Hoult do nude scenes. The latter of which really comments on the young man's beauty.
2. JANELLE MONÁE - The R&B and Hip Hop artist from Kansas City is my favorite music performer alive right now. She's released a couple of EP's but only three studio albums, and all three are three of the most fantastic albums that I've ever heard. It's frustrating that she's only been nominated for 8 Grammy Awards and even more frustrating that she hasn't won one yet. She is absolutely gorgeous and her fashion and sense of style is always stunning. She added acting to her repertoire when she was featured in the Oscar-winning Moonlight (2016). She followed it up with two interesting, historical films, Hidden Figures (2016) and Harriet (2019). This year, she performed as the opening act for the 92nd Academy Awards. She also was the lead for Amazon's second season for Homecoming. Prior to the coronavirus shutting down theaters, she was set to lead a horror flick called Antebellum. She also made the cover of Vanity Fair.
1. CAST OF 'BLOOD & WATER' - In general, the group of actors hired for a TV series tend to be on the good-looking side, especially if the cast is a group of actors under the age of 40. However, I had to make a special note with this South African series now on Netflix. I was simply struck by the beauty of every single person on this show. From the two main actresses, Ama Qamata and Khosi Ngema, to two of the supporting actors like Thabang Molaba and Arno Greeff, this is the most beautiful cast of young people assembled since the CW's All American. You could simply watch this series with the volume down and just delight in the sexiness of every single person on screen.
Honorable mentions: Cast of BET's Boomerang and Son HeChan, a Korean-Japanese wrestler who was featured in Vogue.
